China Merchants signed a framework agreement with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania
On 24 March 2013, after talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the two heads of state jointly attended the signing of a number of bilateral agreements on economic, trade and cultural cooperation in Dar es Salaam, said in the company's press release. They witnessed the signing of a framework agreement on the strategic partnership in relation to the comprehensive development of Bagamoyo special economic zone signed between CMHI and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. China Merchants Group chairman Dr. Fu Yuning and Tanzanian Minister of Finance Dr. William Mgimwa signed the agreement on behalf of both sides.
In accordance with the framework agreement, China Merchants Group will assist the Government with the overall planning, design, development, construction and management of Bagamoyo special economic zone development project and their supporting facilities (ports and highway etc.). Hong Kong listed company CMHl will be responsible for the ports and supporting facilities project. Both the specific scope of the cooperation and cooperation mode will be discussed separately.
