Vyborg residents oppose RZD plans on enhancing cargo train traffic via the city
Public hearings dedicated to the project on reconstruction of Vyborg-Kamennogorsk railway held on March 26, in Vyborg 26, were acknowledged to be invalid by the majority of the participants. The residents did not get answers to their questions from RZD representatives and are not satisfied with the promises of the project customers – the company managers, press center of the Leningrad region government informs.
The hearings touched the construction of two flyovers across the railway – the one to industrial area Lazarevka and the other to be located at the 3rd kilometer.
The railway reconstruction project implies the construction of the second track and the launch of 44 pairs of trains per day. However, RZD rejects including of flyovers into the general project on railway reconstruction, therefore local citizens will have to loose time at railroad crossing gates till the flyovers project completion.
Previous hearings held on July 6, 2012 were also acknowledged to be invalid. Therefore, Russian Railways cannot submit the entire set of documents needed for obtaining of a positive decision of a control authority.
The project on reconstruction of Vyborg-Kamennogorsk railway is a part of a comprehensive investment project “Arrangement of high-speed passenger traffic at St. Petersburg-Buslovskaya section of Oktyabrskaya railway”.
It is one of the largest projects on railway infrastructure development being implemented under private-public partnership with participation of Russia’s Investment Fund. Total volume of investment is to make RUB 80 bln including RUB 27.8 bln to be allocated by the federal investment fund.
