New Harbour Masters appointed at ports of Primorsk, Vysotsk and Vyborg
From April 1, 2013 the position of the Harbour Master of Primorsk port (Leningrad region) will be occupied by Igor Zlotykh, current Harbour Master of port Vysotsk (Leningrad region), IAA PortNews journalist learnt at the international exhibition CITL (Paris) from Peotr Parinov, Harbour Master of Big Port St. Petersburg.
He explained that Aleksandr Surikov, current Harbour Master of Primorsk port, is appointed the Harbour Master of port Vysotsk from April 1, 2013. Besides, Aleksandr Surikov will be a Harbour Master of port Vyborg (Leningrad region) also from April, 1.
Commercial Seaport Primorsk is the largest port of the North West region of Russia in terms of oil and oil product export. It is the final stage of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) and main product pipelines Kstovo-Yaroslavl-Kirishi-Primorsk (Sever project) of AK Transnefteproduct OJSC. In 2012, the port’s throughput slightly declined to 74,768,700 tonnes against 75,124,900 tonnes in 2011.
Port of Vysotsk is located in the Leningrad region. There are currently two stevedore companies operating at the port’s terminals: Port Vysotsky LLC and RPK-Vysotsk-Lukoil-II Ltd. In May 2012, the Russian government decided to expand the Vysotsk port with new territories including those occupied by the construction site of a new sea terminal for handling of general cargo (with the capacity of up to 3 mln t). In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 2%, year-on-year, to 13,634,200 tonnes.
The port of Vyborg was founded in 1293 on the crossroads of waterways between the Gulf of Finland and the navigable system of the Saimaa lakes and the Vuoksa river. There are 13 berths in the port now (with total length of 1,480 running meters). They stretch along the coastline of the Vyborg Bay. In 2012, the port’s throughput increased by 33% to 1,462,400 tonnes.
