Severomorsk ship commenced escorting of Liberian merchant vessel to Djibouti port (photo)
On March 25, 2013, the crew of the major anti-submarine ship Severomorsk has commenced escorting of the merchant vessel St. Andrew (merchant fleet of Liberia) carrying wheat to the port of Djibouti (Djibouti Republic), press center of RF Defense Ministry informs.
The vessels met at a specified point in the western part of the Arabian Sea. The bulk carrier’s crew consists of 24 Ukrainian citizens. The escort route lying via the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden is some 1,000 sea miles long.
Several days before the Russian crew completed the task on guarding a convoy of two dry cargo carriers sailing the flags of Egypt and Panama and a merchant vessel under the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
