Rosmorport completes pre-project works on reconstruction of southern and northern seawalls of Kholmsk port
FSUE Rosmorport has completed pre-project works on reconstruction of southern and northern seawalls of Kholmsk port, informs press center of Sakhalin regional government. The eighth berth is being developed by Kholmsk Commercial Seaport, berth operator under long-term lease agreement.
The participants of the meeting discussed dredging works and depth measurements in seaports of the Sakhalin region.
The elaboration of the document covering designing of berths, bridge crossings and engineering networks started as early as in August 2012. The work is supposed to be implemented in two phases. The draft of ferries is to be increased from 6.4 to 7.5 meters. Besides, there is a plan to create a possibility of handling double-deck ferries carrying railway wagons and motor transport.
According to Rosmorport representative, an agreement has been already signed with a Swiss company for berth reconstruction and coal terminal construction. The port has also signed a long-term contract with a US company for handling oil and gas equipment. Foreign partners guarantee handling of 2,000 containers per year. These activities will involve the seventh berth as well.
