Demolition of Krivaya Dam (St. Petersburg) will cost over RUR 10 bln – seaport administration
The work on demolition of Krivaya Dam at Big Port St. Petersburg is estimated at over RUR 10 bln, PortNews IAA journalist cites Andrei Yurchenko, Head of the Service on navigational and ecological safety (Administration of Big Port St. Petersburg) as saying at the VI annual international conference Trilogy held in St. Petersburg.
This high cost is explained by the necessity to take out and bury huge volumes of contaminated soil which makes the project to be economically unviable.
The Krivaya Dam island (9 hectares) appeared in 1870-ies in the course of the construction of a Marine Canal at the mouth of the Ekateringofka river.
