Vessels with a length of more than 125m cannot pass the Kiel Canal
The German Waterways Authorities have announced that the large locks at the western end of the Canal in Brunsbuettel have to be repaired and will be out of service for a period of 2 to 3 weeks, Hapag-Lloyd reports.
As a result, vessels with a length of more than 125m cannot pass the Canal for the time being. This incident will affect our own Baltic services as well as third party feeders.
Transit times to and from Baltic ports via Hamburg and Bremerhaven will increase by about 12 hours, however Hapag-Lloyd services will continue to sail on a weekly basis as scheduled. We do not expect any disruption of services for our customers.
