Russia’s Primorye to build coal terminal of 20m tonnes capacity
The Primorsky Krai (Territory) Administration has announced the project of a coal terminal with a capacity of 20 million tonnes of coal a year at Cape Clear, the local government press office said.
Newly created LLC Port Vera will manage the project. Co-investors and general partners of the company will be South Korean Kowepo and Russian Rosengineering.
The project includes the construction of the quay wall, warehousing facility for 1.5 million tonnes of coal, the port infrastructure, as well as an overhaul of 45 km of railway lines.
To ensure the cargo base for the future terminal and its profitability, the local government has reached an agreement with some coal companies to supply annually 27 million tonnes of the commodity. As of today, the 800 ha land plot has been leased for the future terminal, and the managing company is negotiating with RZD.
