Rosterminalugol Terminal coal throughput hits 2m tonnes mark
Year-to-date coal shipments through the Ust-Luga-based Rosterminalugol terminal have totaled 2 million metric tons, the terminal operator press release said.
The two-millionth tonne was loaded onto the M/V Golden Bull on March 2nd.
This is slightly ahead of planned figures: a year ago, the same volume of coal was handled at the terminal on March 15.
JSC Rosterminalugol was established in 1996 to build and operate the coal terminal at Port of Ust-Luga. The terminal’s projected annual coal throughput is 8 million tons. The Company specializes in loading / unloading operations, freight forwarding services, building and maintenance of facilities at the coal terminal. The company also provides insurance services for cargoes and property, the risks of transactions at Ust-Luga port. The terminal has two berths of total length of 540 meters and depth of 14 meters. So, the terminal is able to accommodate bulk carriers 240 meters in length and 32.2 meters in breadth. In 2012, coal exports via the terminal rose 26% year-over-year to 13.76 million tonnes.
