Port of Arkhangelsk traffic jumps 33% to 658,400 tonnes
Cargo throughput at the Russian port of Arkhangelsk in January-February this year rose 33 percent from the same period last year to 658,400 tonnes, the Port Authority told PortNews.
The two-month traffic spike was fueled by oil product shipments that surged more than twofold year-on-year to 402,700 metric tonnes with coal exports soaring as much as 3.7 times to 96,800 mt and pulp, paper and paperboard volume surged by 4.8 times to 54,100 mt. At the same time shipments of forest cargo was down 17.4% y-o-y to 82,600 mt.
In 2012, throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk amounted to 5.58 million tonnes.
