Active search for missing crew members of Shans-101 is over
In view of low temperature and lack of reasonable hope to find alive crew members of fishing vessel Shans-101 active phase of the search and rescue operation has been completed, press center of RF Transport Ministry informs.
However, upon the decision of the Sakhalin-based Offshore Rescue Coordination Center of RF Transport Ministry the search for them will be continued by ships passing the Shans-101 catastrophe area from January 31, 2013.
Four fishing vessels, one tanker and the Altas sea rescue ship participated in the search and rescue operation. The Altas sea rescue ship of the Sakhalin Basin Emergency Rescue Administration is staying next to the distressed vessel. Attempts are being made to tow the capsized vessel to the shallow waters for safe operation of divers.
We remind that on January 27, 2013 fishing vessel Shans-101 capsized in the Sea of Japan. The ship is owned by the Vostok-1 fishing farm. The crew of the Shans-101 boast comprised 30 people - 19 citizens of Russia and 11 Indonesian citizens. As of today 15 seamen survived.
