SOROSS members vote for establishing of Russian Chamber of Shipping
The members of the Union of Russian Shipowners (SOROSS) voted for the establishing of Russian Chamber of Shipping at the Union’s general meeting. According to the correspondent of the branch portal Russian Shipping (Media-Group PortNews), SOROSS President Mikhail Romanovski noted that the decision to establish Russian Chamber of Shipping will be the first step towards consolidation of the efforts of the shipping community in its work to protect their business interests. “Detailed consideration of organizational issues on establishment of a new organization is yet to be faced,” he noted.
The decision was supported by the majority of ship owners as well as by the representatives of RF Transport Ministry and the Marine Board of the RF Government. “It is a long-felt need to establish Russian Chamber of Shipping and to bring Russian shipping community to a new level,” commented Aleksandr Balyberdin, executive secretary of the Marine Board. – A single body is needed to represent the entire shipping business in Russia and abroad.”
