Russian International Register numbers 560 vessels in late 2012
As of the end of 2012, Russian International Register numbered 560 vessels, PortNews IAA reporter refers to Viktor Olerski, Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation as saying at the general meeting of the Union of Russian Shipowners. He noted that it was the first year when the Federal Law No 305 on measures to support Russian shipping and shipbuilding was actually applied. The Law encourages ship owners to register their ships with the Russian International Register. When the Law was adopted in November 2011, the Register numbered only 345 vessels.
