Two air-cushion vessels Arctica - 2DK are delivered to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, press center of the Kamchatka region’s Ministry of Transport and Road Building reports.
The vessels were built by Omsk company earlier working for military-industrial complex under the program “Economic and social development of Far East and Transbaikalia through 2013”.
RUR 25 mln were allocated for acquisition of the two vessels from the budget of the Kamchatka region.
Arctica is equipped with a device for overwater and overland movement as well as with wheels for easier passing over obstacles and for improved manoeuvrability.
The vessels are now in a knocked-down condition placed in 20-feet containers. Representatives of Omsk plant will arrive in Kamchatka on January 23 for cargo acceptance, assembling and sea trial of amphibious vessels.
One of the vessels is to be used for passenger transportation between Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk. Arctica will make it possible to cut the journey time to 20 minutes.
