Designed annual capacity of Iljichevsk Commercial Seaport to reach 76 mln t
According to the development program approved by Vladimir Kozak, Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure, on January 17, 2013, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk will increase its designed annual capacity from current 30 mln tons to 76 mlnn tons, the company’s press center informs.
The program has been developed in compliance with the Ukrainian Law on Sea Ports focused on the branch reforming.
The investment projects to be implemented by the company include Reconstruction of the approach canal with its deepening to 17.0 m, construction of an off-shore berth No2 with dredging in operational waters, maneuvering zone and water approach to 17.0 m.
Besides, the program implies the expansion of the port’s railway and highway infrastructure and a number of activities aimed at improvement of the company’s energy efficiency.
The other part of the program covers the facilities to be handed over to concessioners for reconstruction, construction and operation of production facilities under the Law on Sea Ports.
According to the economic analysis, the most promising projects are those on construction of facilities handling grain, vegetable oil, oilseed meal, containerized cargo as well as the development of multimodal complexes and expansion of LNG handling facilities.
The port experts say the plan implementation will require some UAH 1.4 bln. The projects are to be implemented through joint efforts of the port, investment companies and municipal administration of Iljichevsk.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk ia a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodated vessels of up to 100,000 tons in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tons.
Container throughput is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
