Larsen & Toubro ranks among top 10 in Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index
The latest affirmation comes with the prestigious UK-based Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) ranking L&T among the Top 10 companies in its annual assessment of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and climate change strategies of Indian companies, according to press release.
L&T is the only company in the industrial segment to have made it to the ‘Top 10’ on the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI–India). The survey had covered the leading 200 companies (based on market capitalization) in India.
The CDLI-India along with a report was released on January 18, 2013.
Carbon emission is a key indicator of how much a company’s operations are impacting the environment. By achieving a higher score in CDLI, L&T has demonstrated the transparency of its operations as well as its role in emission management, and its long term environment strategy.
Carbon Discloser Project is a global pioneer in the field of appraising the responses of companies to climate change. It has the largest database of corporate’s performance on GHG emissions and related management practices including energy usage. The 2012 report also provides an outlook on how Indian companies are integrating GHG emission risks and opportunities into their business processes.
