Russia’s Gazprom seeks tax benefits for Shtokman
Russian gas giant Gazprom has asked the Finance Ministry for tax benefits for the Shtokman gas field in the Barents Sea, similar to those provided for shelf fields, PRIME cites Deputy Minister Sergei Shatalov as telling reporters on Friday.
The document covers projects to be launched from 2016. The projects will be split into four groups depending on the location of the water area.
The tax rate will amount to 30% for the first, or basic, category of difficulty for five years; 15% for the second category of higher difficulty for seven years; 10% for the third category for 10 years; and 5% for the fourth, or Arctic, category for 15 years to the sale price of oil and gas.
In December, the ministers for finance, energy, and economic development nearly agreed on a bill to provide lower taxes for oil and gas development on the shelf, Shatalov said then.
