Indian authorities to question Chinese master involved in collision
Indian officials are questioning the Chinese master of a cargo vessel which allegedly hit and sank a fishing dinghy off India's Beypore waters on Wednesday afternoon, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The Panama-flagged 20,100-dwt general cargo vessel Izumo, operated by Taiwan's Wisdom Marine Lines and owned by Japan's NYK Hinode Line, has been detained by India's coast guard outside Kochi harbour. Its voyage data recorded (VDR) and navigation logbook were withheld by the authorities.
Santosh Kumar Darokar, nautical surveyor with Mercantile Marine Department will question the cargo vessel's master Huang Jinbao, according to local reports.
All three fishermen on the dinghy were rescued. Izumo was en route to Singapore from Kandla with a cargo of soybean.
