Ecospec installs innovative abatement technology on bulker
Singapore-based technological company Ecospec has completed the installation of its innovative CSNOx system on a 36,251-dwt bulk carrier owned by Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), Seatrade Asia online reports.
Ecospec claims that CSNOx is the first of its kind system designed to abate three gases in one process that operates in both closed loop and freshwater conditions.
A series of phase one tests carried out in 2012 confirmed reductions of sulphur oxide. The technology is also capable of reducing carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides concurrently.
“CSL has always supported research and promoted the development and application of green technologies,” Ecospec said in a statement.
