Throughput of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg up 18% to 8.7 mln t in 2012
In 2012, throughput of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg OJSC raised by 18%, year-on-year, to 8.7 mln tons, the company’s press center reports.
Transshipment of general cargo increased by 6% to 6.9 mln t including 1 mln t of ro-ro cargo. In January-December 2012 the company handled 65,502 motor vehicles (+35%) including 52,543 passenger cars (+11%). Transshipment of dry bulk cargo doubled to 1.8 mln t.
In the reported period, the company boosted handling of export cargo by 15% to 6.6 mlnn t, import cargo– by 24% to 2.1 mln t.
The company attributes its positive dynamics to optimized technological processes of cargo handling and renovation of its system of logistic and information cooperation with customers. Besides, efficient cooperation with RZhD OJSC lead to elimination of problems with railway infrastructure and escape of car detention.
Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg OJSC is the largest operator providing dry cargo handling in Saint-Petersburg port. It is included in UCL Port, - stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding. The company operates up-to-date terminals specialized for transshipment of ro-ro cargo, automobiles and metal. In 2011, the company handled 7.4 mln t of cargo.
