Hyundai Heavy Industries confirms $600m five-boxship order
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has confirmed a $600m order to build five 14,000 teu containerships for Seaspan Corp, including an option for five similar units, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The order is backed by a long-term contract from Taiwan's Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.
The ultra-large boxships are scheduled to be delivered from 2015.
The ships will feature electronically-controlled main engine to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce noise. They will also incorporate HiBallast seawater treatment system to treat 8,000 cubic metres of seawater per hour.
