Container throughput of Hong Kong Port down 5.3% to 23.1 mln TEUs in 2012
In 2012 container throughput of Hong Kong Port (China) fell by 5.3%, year-on-year, to 23.1 mln TEUs. According to the port administration, container transshipment via the port’s largest terminal Kwai Tsing increased by 0.3% - to 17.47 mln TEUs, while other terminals decreased the result by 19.3% to 5.62 mln TEUs.
In December, the port’s container throughput fell by 11.3% as compared with December 2011.
Hong Kong is one of the world's largest ports. Its annual capacity is 456,000 vessels. In 2011 the port handled 24.4 mln TEUs.
