Sembcorp Marine restores tilted rig
Sembcorp Marine's subsidiary Jurong Shipyard has managed to restore and float the jack-up rig that tilted on 3 December 2012 to its original upright position on Monday, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Jurong Shipyard and the relevant authorities will now focus on investigations into the cause of the tilting, which resulted in 89 yard workers injured.
“The jack-up rig which was originally scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2013 will be rescheduled for a later delivery date. Pending on the assessment, the estimated delivery would be by the end of third quarter 2013,” Sembcorp Marine said in a statement.
Repairs and restoration work will commence upon lifting of the stop-work order.
