Frigstad orders two deepwater semi-subs at CIMC Raffles
Frigstad Offshore Pte Ltd, subsidiary of Frigstad Deepwater, signed a $1.3bn contract with CIMC Raffles last Friday for the delivery of two ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling units. The order comes with another four options, SinoShipNews reports.
The semi-submersible drilling units are the 7th generation drilling units developed by Frigstad Engineering, based on the design of the Frigstad D90. The rigs will be capable of operating in water depths up to 12,000 feet and drilling to a total depth of 50,000 feet.
The first two drilling units are scheduled for delivery at the end of the fourth quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016.
