Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 8.6% to 15.69 mln t in 2012
In 2012, throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC totaled 15,690,950 (113% of the plan), a 8.6-pct increase, year-on-year, press center of the stevedoring company reports.
Transshipment of export cargo grew by 9%, year-on-year, import – by 12.9% with a 5-pct decrease of in transshipment of coastal freight.
Major cargoes handled by the company in the reported period: export coal – 11.633 mln t, exported apatite concentrate - 985,900 t, exported iron ore concentrate – 1.628 mln t, exported non-ferrous metals - 326,600 t, coastal freight ferrous metals - 262,300 t, imported manganese ore - 176,300 t.
The highest growth was shown by transshipment of coal (up 813,600 t) and iron ore concentrate (up 448,200 t).
In the reported period the company handled 511 vessels (21 vessels more as compared with 2011) including 173 vessels loaded with coal, 25 vessels with iron ore concentrate, 58 vessels with apatite concentrate, 255 vessels with general cargo, containers and other cargoes.
The company handled 223,157 wagons (22,235 wagons more, year-on-year, that is a 11.5-pct increase).
Joint stock company Agrosfera handled 995,130 tons of mineral fertilizers.
Throughput of Murmansk Bulk Terminal LLC totaled 1,055,170 tons.
Consolidated throughput of the three stevedoring companies grew by 8.4%, year-on-year, to 17,741,240 tons.
OJSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP) was founded in 1994. The stevedore operates 17 berths of total length of about 3 km. The waters depth allows the port of Murmansk to accommodate vessels with draft of 15.5 m and length of more than 265 m. In 2011, net income of the company fell 30.2% year-over-year to RUB 138,534,000, revenue – by 3.7% to RUB 1,403,254,000, cargo throughput totaled 14,420,033 tons. The company’s throughput totaled 14,420,330 t.
