Freight traffic transfer to Losevo-Kamennogorsk line (Leningrad reg.) scheduled for 2013 – RF Transport Minister
Freight traffic transfer to Losevo-Kamennogorsk railway line (Leningrad region) is scheduled for 2013 – RF Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov said when meeting with the Leningrad region’s Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko, press center of RF Transport Ministry reports. It is expected to invest RUR 80 bln including RUR 27.8 bln from the Federal Investment Fund.
The fist stage of the complex investment project Organization of high-speed passenger traffic at St. Petersburg – Buslovskaya line was implemented in 2010 – Allegro high-speed train launched. The Minister thinks major part of the second stage - freight traffic transfer to a new Losevo-Kamennogorsk railway line must be fulfilled in 2013 hence the construction rates should be increased in the nearest future.
“Together with all the project participants and the Leningrad region Government we are to work out a new schedule of our activities and arrange the region’s cooperation with the Transport Ministry. The more so as the freight traffic transfer to a new line is extremely important for the development of ports in the Gulf of Finland,” the Minister said.
The meeting saw the achievement of certain agreements related to solving the problems hindering the construction of the new railway line. The major one is the agreement on the conditions for transfer of land leased from legal and natural persons for construction of the new railway.
Aleksandr Drozdenko drew the Minister’s attention to the necessity to build some other lines between Kamennogorsk and Vyborg not covered by the project. According to him, an agreement was reached at the recent meeting with Vladimir Yakunin, the head of the Russian Railways, to design three lines at the company’s cost. Maksim Sokolov promised to investigate the possibility of including these plans into the federal program having provided the RF Government with the proposals upon the design work completion.
