Varandey terminal's exports of Russian oil down 20% to 3.12 mln t in 2012
The volume of Russian oil exported via Varandey terminal in 2012 decreased by 20%, y-o-y, to 3.12 mln tons, PortNews IAA learnt from administration of Archangelsk port. In December 2012 the terminal handled 421,100 tons of cargo.
Varandey Oil Export Terminal was constructed for exports of oil extracted by LUKOIL in Timan-Pechora oil and gas province. In 2008, crude shipments through the terminal totaled 1.7 mln tons, in 2009 - 7.5 mln tons, in 2010 - 7.44 mln tons.
The complex comprises an off-shore storage tank farm with the capacity of 65,000 cubic meters, pumping station and a pipeline. The terminal’s annual capacity is 12 mln tons of oil. The oil cargo is transported by 20,000dwt shuttle tankers to the Murmansk-based FSO Belokamenka for further transshipment onto large-tonnage tankers.
