No change for Hong Kong bunker sales volume in December
Bunker sales in Hong Kong for December 2012 were stable at about 590,000 tonnes, C1Energy reports. Local players said that although some suppliers saw volumes increase, and others saw their monthly totals fall, overall demand was stable.
Some suppliers were also said to have suspended sales after achieving certain targets. With sales of approximately 195,000 tonnes, Chimbusco Pan Nation remained the top suppler with about one third of sales by volume at the port, despite that total being down 7.1 percent month-on-month.
Looking ahead, suppliers in Hong Kong were said to be expecting demand to be stable to stronger this month. Ship & Bunker data shows the price of IFO380 in Hong Kong has been steadily rising since the start of the year, gaining $22.00 per metric tonne (pmt) through January 9, 2013, tracking Singapore at between $+10.50 and $+16.00 for an average premium of $+13.50 pmt in that time.
