Vostochny Port throughput grew 9.3% in 2012
Cargo volumes handled by JSC Vostochny Port in 2012 totaled 18.39.4m tons, a 9.3% increase year-over-year, the stevedore company said.
Coal exports account for nearly 98% of the cargoes handled by the company, 1.8% - for coal shipped by coastal vessels and about 0.2% for other goods.
In the reporting period, Specialized Coal Terminal exported 14,435,800 tons, which is a 7-percent gain from last year’s numbers. Universal Transshipment Terminal handled 3,603,600 tons, which represents a 19.9% growth.
In 2013, JSC Vostochny Port plans to keep the momentum and continue to develop its investment projects.
JSC Vostochny Port is the major stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny, the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. The company specializes in handling of exported coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK-3) and Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. JSC Vostochny Port operates a fleet of harbor tugs able to berth 150dwt ships. In 2011, the company’s throughput totaled 16,498,200 tons. The ten-month coal throughput at PPK-3 touched the volume of 11,965,800 tons (+4.7%). In October, the terminal exported 1,274,100 tons of coal (+18.3%).
