APM Terminals Tangiers orders 48 Gaussin ATTs
APM Terminals Tangiers has ordered a total of 48 Gaussin automotive terminal trailers (ATTs). The French company will also supply 51 diesel-hydraulic power packs to the Tangier Med port complex situated within the straits of Gibraltar, Port Technology reports.
The terminal operator has conducted extensive tests on nine ATTs since October 2011 and has now confirmed that it will be adopting these test units along with another 39 ATTs, which are scheduled to be delivered to the Moroccan facility in the first quarter of 2013.
“We look forward to using this equipment to serve our customers better and achieve our ambitious safety and environmental goals,” said Hartmut Goertiz, managing director of APM Terminals Tangier.
The Tangier-Med Phase I container terminal is owned and operated by APM Terminals and the Moroccan Akwa Group, and opened in July of 2007.
Primarily a transshipment hub at present, APM Terminals Tangier-Med is one of two container facilities at the new port development which is projected to become the largest port in Africa.
“We are very proud of APM Terminals Tangier’s decision to select Gaussin technology,” said Gaussin CEO, Christophe Gaussin.
“This choice made by a leading port operator confirms the high performance of our vehicles.”
