CANSI boss issues offshore warning
With the declining market of traditional shipbuilding sector, more yards are looking for the opportunities to enter the offshore engineering market, however, there is no need to greatly expand the offshore capacity in China, Wang Jinlian, general sectary of CANSI said at 2012 Shiptec in Dalian, SinoShipNews reports.
“Some facilities we are currently using for shipbuilding can be used for offshore as well, and some can also be used if they got upgraded. Blindly constructing new facilities is not necessary,” Wang stressed. “The offshore engineering sector is not easy to enter, for some small and middle-sized yards without good ability, I suggest them to be stay away from this market, as they are cannot bear more capital challenges and risks,” Wang said.
