Moscow Shipyard lays down second workboat of Project 21770
Moscow Shipyard on October 18 held a keel-laying ceremony for the second utility boat (UTB) of Project 21770 under the contract with Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, the Moscow shipbuilding firm said.
This is the second UTB of Project 21770 to be built for the Russian Navy. The workboat was designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau for assisting a mother ship at offshore anchorage and at ports. The boat is able to operate also on inland waterways.
Boat’s main characteristics: LOA - 9.12 m, beam – 3.32m, draft - 0.67 m, max. speed - 32 knots, cruising range - 100 nm, endurance – one day, crew – 2, main propulsion: twin 232 kW diesel-generator engines.
JSC Moscow Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (Moscow Shipyard, part of United Shipbuilding Corp.) is one of Russia's oldest shipyards founded in 1936. Throughout the years the shipyard has built more than 1,800 vessels with a total overall length of more than 52,000 meters. The firm specializes in building of river passenger vessels, fishing boats and 25-m / 50-m-long luxury yachts.
In 2002, the shipbuilding company successfully passed the certification of quality management system according to ISO 9001. In September 2011, the shipyard launched a series of high-speed multi-purpose boats of Project MRV14 for Russian ports. Since 2011 the company has been building a package of 27 buoy tenders of Project 3050 and 12 tenders of Project 3050.1 for maintenance of navaids on Russian inland waterways. Since mid-2012, Moscow Shipyard has been engaged in the construction of boats for the Russian Navy.
