Latvian ports container traffic up 23.8 percent
Container throughput at Latvian ports rose year-on-year 23.8% in January-September 2012, to 278,630 TEU, the Baltic Course reports.
In the reporting period, the Freeport of Riga handled the largest volume of containerized imports / exports – 275,025 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), or a 23.5% increase from a year earlier, LETA/Nozare.lv. said.
The Port of Liepaja reported a 32.5% surge in box traffic (3,198 TEU), the Freeport of Ventspils handled 360 TEU of containerized cargoes.
