Rosneft zeroes in on BP's stake in TNK-BP
Rosneft has reportedly made a bid for BP's 50% stake in the British-Russian joint venture TNK-BP, a source close to negotiations told RBC. BP and Rosneft refused to comment on this report.
BP closed today the bidding process for its stake in the joint venture. Russian consortium Alfa-Access-Renova (AAR), which is the other shareholder of TNK-BP, does not intend to make an offer to purchase BP's stake, a well-informed source told RBC earlier today.
U.K. television channel Sky News reported on Wednesday, citing its own sources, that AAR agreed to sell its 50% stake in TNK-BP to Rosneft for $28bn.
