Port of Singapore cargo traffic up 0.7 percent
Cargo throughput at the Port of Singapore in January-September 2012 climbed by 0.7% compared to the same period of 2011, to 404.21 million tons, the Port Authority statistics said.
Crude oil transshipments shrank by 17.7% to 127.13 million tons, while container traffic rose 6.8% to 23.76 million TEUs.
Singapore is the city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Container traffic at Port of Singapore in 2011 rose 5.3% year-over-year, to 29.93 million TEUs. Annual cargo throughput at the port totaled 530.48 million tons.
