NAO Governor: Naryan-Mar port not to be privatized (photo)
Igor Fedorov, Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) and Olga Dergunova, head the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) have agreed to coordinate with Russian Transportation Ministry and Rosmorrechflot and then submit to the Russian government a proposal to exclude Naryan-Mar Commercial Sea Port (NMMTP) from the list of federal property privatization plan, the governor told reporters Wednesday.
The official said that after the port will be dropped from the list of to-be-privatized companies he will insist on the transfer of the asset from federal property management to the regional government ownership.
The governor told journalists that the critical situation with increase in accounts payable and a regular holdback pay at the port forced the authorities over a year ago to step in the company operations. Regional authorities have demanded to replace the company’s CEO, and included two representatives of NAO Administration in the Board of Directors of NMMTP. The regional government began talks with tax authorities on debt restructuring.
