Construction of the railway line to the coal terminal "Lavna" located on the western shore of the Kola Bay in Murmansk is scheduled to begin in 2015 and to be completed in 2018. The construction will be funded by the sole investor CJSC Holding Company Siberian Business Union, Interfax reported quoting the Murmansk region Governor Marina Kovtun.
"Construction of an electrical substation is slated for 2014-2015, construction of the railway will commence in 2015 and seems to be finalized in 2018," the official was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Marina Kovtun had said the Lavna Coal Terminal of annual capacity of 18 million tons, might be launched by the end of 2015.
JSC Holding Company Siberian Business Union is planning to start building a coal port in Murmansk in late 2012 - early 2013. The project includes construction of a branch line connecting the Lavna railyard to the Murmansk port, and an electrical substation. The project worth about $150-200 million for a coal terminal on the west coast of the Kola Bay, between the mouths of the Lavna and Kulonga rivers was developed in 2006, but the Union had struggled for several years to obtain different permits and approvals.
