ADSCo Group’s throughput up 16 percent to 3.7 mln tons
Cargo handling by stevedoring companies of Azov-Don Shipping Company (ADSCo, Rostov-on-Don) in January-September 2012 totaled 3.7 million tons, up 16% over the same period last year, the Group said.
Of the volumes, 1.1 million tons of cargo were handled by Rostov Universal Port (RUP), 893,000 tons – at the port of Ust-Donetsk (UDP). Cargo transshipments at offshore anchorage of the port of Kavkaz totaled 602,000 tons. Other stevedoring companies of the Group, the terminals of the Rostov region and Krasnodar Territory handled 1.1 million tons of different cargoes.
In the reporting period the stevedores were handling primarily sulfur - 37%, construction materials - 30%, coal - 18%, metal - 8%, and other cargoes - 7%.
In January-September ships and riverboats of Azov-Don Shipping Company carried 4.5 million tons of cargoes, which corresponds to the last year’s number. The volume of river traffic was 2.2 million tons, seaborne cargo traffic volume totaled 2.3 million tons.
Grain accounted for 28% of all cargoes transported by water transport, construction materials - 28%, sulfur - 22%, coal - 12%, metals - 4%, other cargo - 6%.
Azov-Don Shipping Company’s fleet operates on the routes passing via Russian ports of Rostov-on-Don, Ust-Donetsk, Astrakhan, Kavkaz, sea ports in Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Israel.
Transportation Group Azov-Don Shipping Company was established in 2003. The Group integrates more than 20 water transport companies, including shipping, stevedoring companies (Rostov Universal Port, Port of Ust-Donetsk), logistics and development companies. ADSCo operates a fleet of 73 river-sea vessels (each DWT 7,000), 100 river boats (DWT 3,000). The company provides services for transportation of grain, coal, fertilizers, construction materials, containers and general cargo. Stevedoring companies operate at the terminals in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov region and the Krasnodar Territory. In 2011, the company's fleet carried 6 million tons and 4.2 million tons were transshipped at the ports.
