Dredging at Kozmino Terminal P2 to be completed on Oct. 22
Dredging work carried out in the framework of Vostochny port-based Kozmino Oil Terminal’s second phase (Spetsmornefteport Kozmino, operated by Transneft, Primorsky Territory) is scheduled for completion on October 22, 2012, a source at the port told PortNews. Of 310,000 cbm of projected volumes the contractor Marine Technologies Ltd. has dredged 246,000 cbm of sediments.
The dredging project at Kozmino will enable access to Berth Number 2 of 120,00DWT tankers. Works are carried out in line with Spetsmornefteport Kozmino expansion to 30 million tons of oil products a year.
Increasing capacity of Spetsmornefteport is conducted in accordance with the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline project second phase. Engineering and survey at the site under the contract with Rosmorport started back in 2011. These included geological, environmental, land-surveying and diving survey of the seabed at Berth No 2. Dredging and formation of harbor area commenced in September.
In January-September, the terminal exported 10.3 million tons of crude oil to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR).
Upon completion of Kozmino Oil Terminal Phase 2, which includes the construction of the last section of ESPO-2 pipeline, the facility’s annual capacity will be boosted from 15 million tons to 30 million tons of oil.
Specialized Marine Oil Terminal Kozmino, operated by Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (a subsidiary of Transneft), was commissioned in late 2009. Port Kozmino is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction oil cargo is delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
