Vladivostok Container Terminal throughput jumps 37 percent
Container traffic at Vladivostok Container Terminal (VCT) in January-September 2012 surged 37% compared to the same period of 2011, when the stevedore operated only on Berth No 16, or rose by 6% tanking into account box throughput at Berths No 14-15, to 300,500 TEUs, the terminal operator said.
In September, handling of containerized imports / exports at the facility totaled 32,91 TEUs, a 6.2% decline month-on-month. Monthly volume of exported containers rose month-on-month 2% to 11,7 TEUs. Imports fell 12.8% (m-o-m) to 12,97 TEUs. Coastal traffic was down 5.65% to 8,24 TEUs. During the period, there were 40 calls to the VCT (4 ships more than in Aug.), with an average of 823 TEUs per vessel.
