Andrei Diachkov appointed President of United Shipbuilding Corporation
Andrei Diachkov has been appointed President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told the semi-annual Board of the Corporation.
"Yesterday, I signed a directive to our agency on property of the Federal Property Management Agency. The directive is about the order of termination of the powers of USC President Roman Trotsenko and appointment of the new President Andrei Diachkov," said the official.
Rogozin said that the man has established reputation in the industry and "is able to pass the industry development second stage with no strains, no emotion bursts."
Diachkov pointed out that he sees his main task to establish the mechanism of the corporate management that the company could work without failures.
Andrei Diachkov, 55, graduated from Sevmashvtuz, an affiliate of Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute, majoring in Marine Propulsion Systems. In 1980 he joined Northern Machine-Building Enterprise (Sevmash) and was promoted to Deputy General Director, Military Production.
In 2009-2011, he was General Director of Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. Since July 2011 Diachkov has been General Director of Sevmash.
United Shipbuilding Corporation was founded in 2007 as a 100-percent state-owned group of companies consolidating about 70% of domestic shipbuilding industry. UCS currently incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers, nine engineering and design offices and 39 dockyards. The Corp’s largest shipbuilding assets include Kaliningrad-based JSC Yantar Shipyard, JSC Admiralty Shipyards (St. Petersburg), JSC PA Sevmash (Severodvinsk), JSC DVZ Zvezda (Vladivostok). Besides, USC holds a 50% stake in Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, a joint venture with STX Finland Cruise Oy.
