BP expands bunker operations in China
Oil giant BP is expanding its bunkering operations to eight new Chinese ports, the London, England headquartered company has told its customers, Ship & Bunker reports.
The move, part of a cooperation agreement made with China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. last year, will see BP supplying in the ports of Ningbo, Zhoushan, Shanghai, Lianyungang, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Yantian, and Tianjin.
The agreement between BP and China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., also known as Sinopec, gives BP access to Sinopec's supply network within China.
Zhou Yiqing, vice-manager of the bunker department at the fuel-oil unit of Sinopec told Bloomberg that under the contract, BP manages the bunkering process for its customers with Sinopec providing the fuel cargoes.
Outside of China, BP has opened its network to Sinopec clients.
"We bring our customers to BP, and BP supplies the fuel using their facilities, and we share profits," Zhou said.
