Yaroslavsky Shipyard launches DSV of SDS08 project Rybinsk
Yaroslavsky Shipyard (managing company JSC "VP Finsudprom") has launched the fourth in a package of sea-going diving support vessels of SDS08 project. The boat was named Rybinsk, the project designer Marine Engineering Bureau said.
The boat was ordered by Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) for FSUE Baltic Basin Emergency and Rescue Department.
Ship’s specifications: LOA - 38.35 m, beam molded - 7.92 m, LWL draft - 2.35 m, maximum speed - 12 knots. Class PC: KM Ice 2 R2 AUT3-C OMBO SDS <100.
Project is the evolution of similar operating vessels.
The powerful engines, other equipment, enable the boat to perform specialized tasks associated with underwater technical works at depths to 100 m, put out fires on other ships with two air-foam fire extinguishers, each 180cbm/h. The vessel is able to operate as a tugboat, to pump water from the compartments of stricken ships, to take part in oil spill response operations.
The lead ship of the SDS08 series - Stolny Grad Yaroslavl (build number 201) was laid down on August 28, 2009, launched on August 12, 2010, and delivered on October 25 2010.
Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant is based in central Russia on the Volga river. Incorporated in 1993. The company specializes in building civilian and warships.
