Rosterminalugol coal traffic hits 6 mln-ton mark
Year-to-date coal shipments through the Ust-Luga-based Rosterminalugol terminal has totaled 6 million tons. The six-millionth ton was loaded onto the dry bulk carrier Miho Pracat on May 31,2012. Last year, the similar numbers were reported in early August, the Company said.
The coal shipments plan for 2012 is 12,400,000 tons. Over the past day, the terminal has set a new record of unloading coal-laden railcars - 782 gondolas.
JSC Rosterminalugol was established in 1996 to build and operate the coal terminal at Port of Ust-Luga. The terminal’s projected annual capacity is 8 million tons of coal. Rosterminalugol specializes in loading / unloading operations, freight forwarding services, building and maintenance of facilities at the coal terminal. The company also provides insurance services for goods and property, the risks of transactions at Ust-Luga port. The terminal has two berths of total length of 540 meters and depth of 14 meters. The terminal can handle vessels with length of 240 m and breadth of 32.2 m. In 2011, coal exports via the terminal surged 45.3% year-over-year to 10.9 million tons.
