Port Vanino five-month cargo volumes flat, at 2.2m tons
Cargo traffic at Vanino Commercial Sea Port" (Port Vanino) in January-May remained unchanged, at the level of the last year’s five-month figure, 2,278,800 tons, the company said.
During the reporting period, Port Vanino handled over 1 million tons of export cargo, including 453,800 tons of timber cargo, 424,600 tons of coal and 73,100 tons of aluminum. Imports totaled 562,400 tons, largely alumina – 530,900 tons. Short sea traffic volume totaled 99,700 tons.
The Vanino - Kholmsk ferry line transported 616,600 tons of cargo. In the reporting period Port Vanino handled 471 ships, including 278 ferries and 23,500 railcars.
JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is the major operator of the port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. Port Vanino owns the waterfront of about 2.5-km with three specialized cargo handling facilities. In 2011, cargo throughput at Port Vanino terminals shrank 1.7% to 5.9 million tons.
