Russia’s crude exports via Kozmino Terminal rises 3.4 percent
The volume of Russian crude oil (ESPO brand) exported through the terminal Spetsmornefteport Kozmino (Port Vostochny) in January-May 2012 rose 3.4% year-over-year to 6.4 million tons, the terminal operator said. In the reporting period the commodity was exported largely to Japan, 2 mln tons.
In May, the facility handled 13 shipments, each 100,000 tons. The major volume (38%) was shipped to USA, 0.5 mln tons, 23% - to Japan, Thailand, South Korea and China (8%), Philippines (5%) and Malaysia (2%).
According to the preliminary schedule for June, the port plans to load to oil tankers 12 cargoes, each 100,000 tons of oil. The first two vessels had already left for the destination. The next tanker will dock at Kozmino berth this weekend.
Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (Special Oil Port of Kozmino, Primorsky Territory), a subsidiary of Transneft JSC, started operating in late 2009. Kozmino Oil Terminal is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction the crude oil is being delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
Kozmino Oil Terminal capacity is 15 million tons of oil a year, expandable to 30m t/y. The first export oil cargo was shipped from the terminal on Dec. 28, 2009. Russian oil exports through Kozmino in 2011 totaled 15.19 million tons. The commodity is exported primarily to the Asia-Pacific region.
