Taiwan clears path for high tech exports to China
Bringing itself in line with international norms, Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) is revising regulations to lift a ban on exports of strategic high-tech commodities (SHTC) to China, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The ministry noted that Taiwan still maintains Iran, North Korea, Iraq, Cuba, Sudan, Syria and China on its SHTC control list while the United States, European Union, Japan and South Korea have excluded China from their ban lists.
However, senior officials emphasized that Taiwan's manufacturers will still be subject to penalties for exports of 12 categories of banned semiconductor manufacturing equipment to China without permission.
