Port of Klaipeda traffic grows to over 36 mln tons in Jan-Dec
Year-to-date cargo traffic at the port of Klaipeda rose to 36.06 million tons as of December 27th, the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority said. The state-owned company expects annual throughput of the port may reach 36,500,000 million tons.
State-run Port of Klaipeda, the northernmost ice-free port on the East coast of the Baltic Sea, is the largest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea and inland traffic lanes. There are 17 stevedore companies, shipyards and other operators at the port, providing a broad range of services. In 2010, Port of Klaipeda cargo throughput increased year-over-year by 12.24%, to 31,27m tons.
