Palmali in agreement with LUKOIL to build a TIB for the Caspian Sea offshore fields
Rostov-on-Don-based LLC Palmali (a member of Palmali Group), has entered into a long-term charter agreement with OAO LUKOIL and commenced construction of a semi-submersible Transport and Installation Barge (TIB), equipped with an onboard mobile jib crane.
The custom-made TIB is intended for operation in the Caspian region, which could be redeployed in other regions. The main dimensions of the vessel, her positioning system, load capacity and minimum draft of the full-laden barge (that satisfy the Volga-Caspian channel dimensions) makes her a unique vessel in the Caspian region.
The TMB of T-shape is designed to transport the heavy-lift topside structures and assist fixing them on offshore platforms, to install platform on its base by ‘floating-over’ method. The barge equipment allow installing platform’s elements weighing up to 13,000 tons, to ram piles of rig base, risers, install the bridges, as well as perform other assembly operations.
Given the deadlines some parts of the TMB will be built and assembled at Besiktas Shipyard (Yalova, Turkey) and at an Astrakhan-based shipyard.
The TIB project was designed at JSC Central Design Bureau ‘Coral’ (Sevastopol, Ukraine) to all the requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, International Conventions, as well as applicable requirements of federal laws and standards of the Russian Federation.
The length of the main pontoon - 140.0 m, breadth of the main pontoon - 30,0 m, outrigger’s length - 40.0 m, breadth - 16.0 m, depth - 7.0 m, overall length of TMB with outriggers - 62.12 m.
Palmali Group is a shipping company operating in the Mediterranean, Caspian and Black Seas. Last year, shipments of oil cargo on Russia’s inland waterways by the Group’s fleet exceeded 4,5m tons. Palmali Group is a major carrier of oil companies SOCAR (Azerbaijan) and LUKOIL (Russia) on the southern lines. The Group has been awarded long-term contracts for transportation of petroleum products with TNK-BP.
The Group operates a fleet of more than 100 vessels, including sea-going tankers of up to 180,000dwt, sea-going and river tankers of up to 8,000dwt tons flying Russian and foreign flags.
