CMA CGM and MSC to launch new Black Pearl service
CMA CGM, France’s largest shipping line, has announced that it is to launch the new Black Pearl service linking the East Coast of North America and the West Coast of South America (Panama, Peru and Chile).
The new service will be a part of the operational agreement between CMA CGM and the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
According to CMA CGM, the new service has been created as a direct response to the growing demand for refrigerated cargoes from Chile and Peru to Philadelphia and New York.
The direct fixed-day weekly service will become effective from mid-January (southbound) and will call at 6 main US ports ((Port Everglades, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston, Philadelphia and New York), one connecting hub in Balboa and 4 main ports in West Coast South America (Callao, Arica, Valparaiso and Coronel).
The Black Pearl service will deploy seven vessels with a 4,000 TEU capacity and will be operated by MSC.
The new Black Pearl rotation will be as follows: Philadelphia, New York, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Freeport, Port Everglades, Cristobal, Balboa, Callao, Arica, Coronel, Valparaiso, Balboa, Cristobal, Freeport, Philadelphia and New York.
